Generated Meta Descriptions
Copy the description you like best.Free Meta Description Generator That Fits Your Page
Most meta descriptions get written in a rush, five minutes before a page goes live. They end up vague, copied across pages, or cut off halfway through a sentence. This free meta description generator takes care of the slow part: you give it a keyword, and it gives you five clean options to choose from.
It's built for real work. You can pick English, Hindi or Hinglish, set the tone, tell it who the page is for, and see a character count on every option before you copy anything. There's no signup and no login. If the first batch isn't right, generate again.
The quick version: type your keyword, pick a language and tone, click Generate Descriptions, choose one of the five, trim it to about 150 characters, and paste it into your page settings. The rest of this page shows you how to get a really good result and how to avoid the usual mistakes.
How to Use the Meta Description Generator (Step-by-Step)
-
Enter your Main Keyword or Topic. This is the only
required box. Use the phrase you want the page to be found for.
Specific works better than broad: “handmade soy candles” gives you a
sharper description than “candles.” A short topic like “how to start
a blog” works too.
-
Choose a Language. Pick English, Hindi or Hinglish.
Choose the one your readers actually search in.
- Pick a Tone. You get five choices:
- Professional: tools, business services and B2B pages.
- Friendly: blogs, guides and community sites.
- Persuasive: product pages and landing pages where you want action.
- Casual: lifestyle content and personal blogs.
- Creative: entertainment, hobby and brand pages.
-
Add your Target Audience (optional). Write who the
page is for, such as “first-time home buyers” or “small business
owners.” The tool uses it to adjust the wording, so the description
sounds like it was written for those people.
-
Click Generate Descriptions. Five options appear in
a few seconds. Tip: you can also press Enter while your cursor is
in the keyword box.
- Read all five before you choose. Each one shows its own character count. The number turns green when the description is between 140 and 160 characters, and orange when it's shorter or longer. Look for a green one that says something specific about your page.
- Make one small edit. Swap in a real number, a clear benefit or a call to action like “Try it free.” Thirty seconds of editing turns a good draft into a description that sounds like you.
- Copy it. Click Copy next to the option you like, or Copy All to keep all five for later. Click Clear when you want to start on another page.
- Paste it into your site. Steps for Blogger, WordPress, Shopify and Wix are further down.
What You Get With Every Run
| Feature | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Five options per run | You compare different angles instead of settling for the first idea. |
| English, Hindi and Hinglish | You can write for Indian readers in the language they search in. |
| Five tones | The same page can sound formal for a client or relaxed for a blog. |
| Target audience box | The wording speaks to a specific reader, not to everyone. |
| Character count on each option | Green means 140 to 160 characters. Orange means shorter or longer, so you spot length problems before you publish. |
| Copy and Copy All buttons | No selecting text by hand, which is painful on a phone. |
| No signup | Open it, use it, leave. |
What a Meta Description Is, in Simple Language
A meta description is a one or two sentence summary of a page. It lives in the page's code, in a tag called meta description, and search engines often show it under the blue title link in results.
Think of the title as the headline and the description as the pitch. The title says what the page is. The description convinces someone to click.
Does it help you rank? Not directly. Google has said it doesn't use meta descriptions as a ranking signal. But rankings aren't the whole story. When two results sit side-by-side, the one with the clearer description usually earns more clicks, and more clicks means more visitors from the same position. Words in your description that match the search also show in bold, which makes your listing easier to spot.
How Long Should a Meta Description Be?
Aim for 140 to 155 characters. That's the safe range.
Google doesn't actually count characters. It cuts/truncates text when it runs out of width, measured in pixels. Desktop results often show around 155 to 160 characters, and phones usually show less, closer to 120. Wide letters like W and M take more room than i or I, so the exact cut-off/truncated moves around.
Three rules that work in practice:
- Put the main point in the first 120 characters.
- Keep the whole thing under 155 characters.
- If you use Blogger, stay under 150, because its search description box stops there.
The 4-Part Formula Behind a Good Meta Description
Good descriptions share the same four parts, usually in this order:
- Benefit. What does the reader get? Start with that.
- Keyword. Use your main phrase once, early, in natural words.
- Specific detail. A number, a feature, a price, “free” or “no signup.” Specifics make people believe you.
- Action. End with a short push: Try it free. Read the guide. Shop now.
Here's the formula built step-by-step for a page about a free EMI calculator:
- Benefit: See your monthly loan payment instantly.
- Keyword added: Free EMI calculator to see your monthly loan payment instantly.
- Detail added: Free EMI calculator: enter your loan amount, rate and tenure to see the monthly payment in seconds.
- Action added: Free EMI calculator: enter your loan amount, rate and tenure to see the monthly payment in seconds. Try it now, no signup.
The last version is clear, specific and gives a reason to click. A strong title helps too, so pair your description with a title from our Meta Title Generator.

A Practical Workflow: Fix the Pages That Need It Most
Writing descriptions for every page at once is slow. Start with the pages that will give you the biggest return. Google Search Console is free, and it tells you exactly where to begin.
- Open Google Search Console and go to Performance. Set the date range to the last 3 months.
- Open the Pages tab and sort by impressions. These are the pages Google already shows to people.
- Look for pages with plenty of impressions but few clicks. These are your best candidates, because people see the result and scroll past it.
- Click one page, then open the Queries tab. The top query is your best main keyword for that page.
- Type that query into the generator, choose a tone and audience, and generate five options.
- Pick one, edit it, and make sure the top query appears near the start.
- Update the page, then use URL Inspection in Search Console and request indexing.
- Wait three to four weeks, then compare clicks and click-through rate against the same length of time before the change. Change one thing at a time so you know what worked.
One honest limit: if a page sits around position 40 or lower, a better description won't move the needle much, because almost nobody sees it. Improve the page content and earn a few links first. Descriptions pay-off once a page is on the first couple of pages of results.
Mistakes That Waste a Good Meta Description
- Using the same description on many pages, Write a unique one for each page that matters.
- Stuffing keywords, One natural use is enough.
- Going over 160 characters, The ending gets cut off, often along with your call to action.
- Being vague, “We offer quality services” says nothing. Say what, for whom and why.
- Promising what the page doesn't deliver, Visitors leave right away, which hurts you more than a low click rate.
- Skipping the call to action, A short verb at the end helps.
- Ignoring search intent, If people searching want a tool, say it's a tool.
- Writing it once and forgetting it, Review your top pages every few months.
- Copying a competitor, Look at theirs for ideas, then write something that's true for your page.
How to Add Your Meta Description to Your Website
Menu names change from time to time, so if you can't find a setting, look for “search description,” “meta description” or “SEO settings.”
Blogger
First turn the feature on: go to Settings, then Meta tags, and switch on the search description. Then open any post or page, go to Post settings (or Page settings), and paste your text into Search description. The box stops at 150 characters, so choose a shorter option.
WordPress
Install an SEO plugin such as Yoast SEO or Rank Math. Scroll below the editor to the plugin's settings for the page, paste your text into the meta description box, and update the page.
Shopify
Open the page, product or collection, scroll to Search engine listing preview, click Edit, and paste your text into the meta description field.
Wix
Open the page's SEO settings, choose SEO basics, and paste your text into the description field.
Any other site
Add this line inside the head section of your page, with your own text in place of the example. If your text has quotation marks, replace them with apostrophes so the tag doesn't break.
<meta name="description" content="Your meta description here">
How to check that it worked
- Open your page, right-click, choose View page source, and search for “description.” You should see your text in the tag.
- Preview how the title and description will look with our SERP Snippet Preview tool.
- In Search Console, run URL Inspection on the page. Google can take days or weeks to update what it shows in results, and it may show its own version.
Hindi and Hinglish Meta Descriptions
Many people search in Hindi, English or a mix of both. If your readers do, a description in their own style feels familiar and gets more clicks. Choose Hindi or Hinglish in the Language box before you generate.
Here's the same description for a free meta description page, written three ways:
- English: Create five SEO-friendly meta descriptions in seconds. Pick your tone, copy your favorite and paste it into your page. Free, no signup.
- Hinglish: Apne page ke liye 5 SEO-friendly meta descriptions seconds mein banayein. Tone chunein, pasand wala copy karein. Bilkul free, signup ki zarurat nahi.
A few tips for these languages:
- Keep common technical words like SEO or blog in English if that's how your readers type them.
- Read the result out loud. If it sounds stiff, edit it until it sounds like how you'd talk to a customer.
- Check Search Console to see which language your visitors actually search in, then match it.
- Don't switch scripts in the middle of a sentence unless that's how your audience writes.
Why Google Sometimes Shows a Different Description
You may write a great description and still see something else in results. That's normal. Google often builds its own snippet from your page when it thinks that fits the search better.
It usually happens when:
- The description doesn't match what the person searched for.
- The description is very short, generic or repeated on other pages.
- Another passage on your page answers the search more directly.
What to do about it: cover the question clearly in your page text, write descriptions that answer the main search, and keep every description unique. When your description matches the search, Google is far more likely to use it.
Tips for Getting the Best Results From This Tool
- Be specific with the keyword. “Vegan protein powder for beginners” beats “protein.”
- Fill in the target audience. It's optional, but it often makes the wording more relevant.
- Try two or three tones. Generate again with Persuasive after Professional and compare.
- Mix the best parts. Take the opening of one option and the ending of another.
- Add one real detail. A price, a number, a city or a guarantee makes it yours.
- Check your keyword use. Our Keyword Density Checker shows how often a phrase appears on your page.
- Run it once per page. Every page needs its own description, so don't reuse one result across your site.
